Terms of service.
These terms apply to your use of this website and to services provided by Map & Mend, a solo SEO and AI search consultancy operated by Sarah Kester and based in Oregon. By using this site, requesting services, or approving a proposal, you agree to these terms.
Last updated: June 7, 2026.
Services.
Map & Mend offers focused reviews, full audits, hands-on cleanup, and ongoing search support. The specific scope, deliverables, timeline, and price for any engagement are set out in a written proposal or agreement before work begins, and that signed proposal or agreement is the controlling contract for the work.
These terms provide the general framework. Where a specific proposal or agreement differs from this page, the proposal or agreement applies.
About results.
Search and AI visibility depend on many factors outside any provider's control, including the algorithms used by Google and other platforms, competitor activity, your market, and ongoing changes across the web.
Map & Mend provides experienced, careful work, but does not guarantee specific rankings, traffic levels, revenue, or placement in any particular AI-generated answer. I will give you a realistic assessment of what to expect and what is worth doing.
Third-party platforms.
Map & Mend works with and depends on third-party platforms, including search engines, AI tools, website and hosting platforms, analytics tools, payment processors, directories, and social media platforms. These platforms are outside my control and can change at any time.
Map & Mend is not responsible for changes made by these platforms or for interruptions in their services.
Payment.
Prices are as quoted on the site or in your proposal. One-time services such as the Clarity Review are paid in advance. Larger engagements, including audits, cleanup, and ongoing support, may involve a deposit and milestone or monthly billing, as set out in your agreement.
Payments are processed by HubSpot and Stripe. Refunds and cancellations are covered in the Refund and Cancellation Policy.
Ending ongoing support.
Ongoing support may be canceled by either party with written notice before the next billing period, unless a separate agreement says otherwise. Work already completed or scheduled for the current billing period remains payable.
Your responsibilities.
To deliver effective work, I need timely access and accurate information, including your website, the relevant accounts, and clear answers about your business. Delays in providing these may affect timelines.
Where possible, please provide access through appropriate user permissions rather than by sharing passwords directly. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to grant access to any accounts, content, or materials you provide, and for maintaining your own account security, backups, and administrative access unless we agree otherwise in writing.
You are responsible for reviewing deliverables, recommendations, and any content changes for accuracy, legal compliance, industry-specific requirements, and fit for your business before publishing or relying on them.
Ownership.
The specific deliverables created for you, such as audit documents, recommendations, and copy, are yours once payment is complete.
The methods, templates, and general knowledge used to produce that work remain mine, so that I can continue to use them with other clients. The content, design, and code of this website remain the property of Map & Mend and may not be copied.
I will not publicly share confidential client information. I may describe work in general terms, but any public case study, testimonial, or use of your business name or logo requires your permission.
Liability.
Work is performed carefully and in good faith. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Map & Mend is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and total liability for any engagement is limited to the amount paid for that engagement.
Map & Mend is not responsible for issues caused by outdated software, third-party plugins, hosting problems, or pre-existing technical problems outside the agreed scope of work.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
Governing law and changes.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon. If any provision is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
I may update these terms from time to time. The current version is indicated by the date at the top of this page.
